Say It Isn't so!???!

Bad news on every front, and many revel in the idea of sharing it first. If not to the general public, at least to someone who may not have heard. Through my years of growing, learning, and sharing, I’ve been guilty of telling someone something they did not know. Equally, since I don’t pay much attention to popular news items, I sometimes learn something shocking.

Say it isn’t so!

This morning while perusing the news, I learned two things I did not know before. One? Willie Nelson wrote the song “Crazy,” which went into the charts and gave him a “name” by Patsy Cline. Two? Patsy Cline died in a plane crash in 1963 – that infamous year that woke me to the news of the world happening around me.

A lot happened that year!

Mom would have been 28 years old, and dad 33. I was 8 years old, and the stair-stacked siblings ranged downwards to 5. Sum it up, and we represented 87 combined years – the age my mom is this year!

Say it isn’t so!

It’s weird how we are sometimes shocked by the news we hear. Our responses are varied, and though I don’t want to be insensitive, we often shrug our shoulders. That’s life. But let it be something important, oh, please… Say it isn’t so!

John Denver (12/31/43 – 10/12/97) died the same week as my favorite author, James Michener (02/03/07 – 10/16/97). My favorite singer (even today) and my favorite novelist (yes, even today.) Please, Click Here.

Yesterday, talking about a destination someone is visiting this week and staying at an Airbnb, my phone popped up with a headline about the same place and the news that the city is spending money to stop these kinds of businesses. Shhhh! Technology is listening!

Say it is not so!!!!

Sadly, it’s so. Your phone may be the faster purveyor of news you do not want to hear.
