Packing LightPacking Light, Traveling Light

There is an old saying, “You can’t take it with you.” Perhaps it’s related to a host of material blessings, and the impracticality of noting that it’s impossible to carry everything with you when you travel.

Hence, the idea that you need to learn to pack lightly. What’s necessary, and practical, versus, what’s all those things you got in your bags???

For me, it’s difficult to pack lightly, especially in the technology realm. An overnight trip? Sure. Carry the bare necessities. But when you travel for a few weeks? Then you try to determine all the possibilities to be ready for.

Clothing is easy, as I’m prone to minimize and wash/dry along the way. Shoes? One casual, one dress. Suit? Hope not!

Let’s say you’re getting closer to your trip and you’ve not decided on what to take.

Quickly, what’re your bare necessities? What can you not live without? Is there something you are content to simply buy along the way? Have you ever left something behind instead of packing it home? Did you ever reach a point of simply mailing your luggage home?

What is your packing strategy? Care to share?
