I’m hard of hearing, but the doctor says I hear all ranges of sounds.
Of course, their testing does not consider the room settings
Or the blossom of noise that hovers in the background.
If everything worked correctly, the background noise would be silent,
And my ears would hear perfectly.

I need glasses, but the doctor says it’s mainly for reading.
Even though he suggests a light tinge of distance included,
What I’m given does not work well when traveling at the speed of the freeway.
So, if everything works correctly, what I need the most is simple.
I need to see what’s right before me, no matter what I’m looking at.

There may be an advantage to hearing and seeing problems.
Don’t lie about the struggles, but use it to your advantage…
Come close. I can’t see or hear as well. It makes me think of that ol’ wolf.
Red Riding Hood. Three Little Pigs. You know what I mean.
Don’t lie, but use your needs to your advantage.

It’s all about learning to adapt… I’m learning this every day.

Helen Keller says, “Blindness cuts people from things. Deafness cuts people from people”.

And when John had heard in prison about the works of Christ,
he sent two of his disciples and said to Him,
“Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?”
Jesus answered and said to them,
“Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:
The blind see and the lame walk;
the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear;

the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them.
And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.”
(Matthew 11:2-6 NKJV)
