Masking the feelings with an image showing unsettledUnsettled

Sometimes words don’t flow,
The thought never materializes out loud.
Words fail. Fall Flat. What do you do?
Don’t stop. Pick up the pieces. Keep moving.

I’ve been blogging for nearly 15 years…
Preaching and teaching at church for over 40 years…
I’ve taught college for over 15 years…
Still, nothing flows evenly all the time.
Distractions play a considerable role.
Feeling out of balance is another crisis moment.

When an event is done, you feel undone.
Unsettled. Dissatisfied. Unfulfilled.
In fact, from a spiritual point of view,
There was no flow. That’s my point.
Was it me? Of that, I am sure. It always is.

At that moment, and before you think it through
Don’t let it be life that says,
At least you tried your best.
I’ll always know I could have done better.
How does that go? Good. Better. Best….

Good, better, best.
Never let it rest.
Till your good gets better.
And your better gets best.
~Rev James L Kilgore

I’ve read some of FDR’s Fireside Chats documents.
From the Great Depression to the Great War,
I wondered if he ever felt the same. Unsettled.
Dissatisfied. Unfulfilled. Undone.

The generation born around his presidential start,
Perhaps went to war toward his ending.
Could they see the bigger picture? Progression?
I wondered if he ever felt the same. Unsettled.

There is so much to the past we see unclearly.
Life has a way of being murkily experienced.
But yesterday? No different. Even in the moment.
Unsettled. Dissatisfied. Unfulfilled. Undone.

It is what I do now that makes all the difference to me.

In the year that King Uzziah died,
I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up,

and the train of His robe filled the temple.
Above it stood seraphim;

each one had six wings:
with two he covered his face,

with two he covered his feet,
and with two he flew.
And one cried to another and said:
“Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!”
And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out,
and the house was filled with smoke.
So I said: “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The LORD of hosts.”
Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth with it, and said:
“Behold, this has touched your lips; Your iniquity is taken away, And your sin purged.”
Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying:
“Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?”
Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”
