Mountain peaks and valley lowI was made to soar with eagles.

Climb to the sky, ride the clouds to the horizon.
Fall to the valley floor and feel darkness closing in.
Enjoy the highs, tolerate the lows,
But know the lows never bring me down from my highs.

Good table conversation affirmed something I know
People will be people, and so will I.
I’m me…the best I know how.
Accepting my highs will always outshine the lows.

Some thoughts came to mind as the conversation was being shared. We are each unique, and we bring tasty morsels to the table of life, some of which cannot be swallowed because they are only tasty to ourselves and not others. Letting each be who they are speaks to ourselves being allowed to be who we are—none better than the other, only different. Some are tolerable. Others are not even delictable.

But that’s the spice of life.

I remembered someone with a haughty attitude from a conversion team in the early 90s. At the same time, another person who was a “hatchet” to job security. We had to put up with each one, never knowing when their pushy ways would help or hurt us.

That’s the highs and lows in the same space.

Then I remembered from school days, a good friend turning bad and an unknown person becoming a stalwart companion. I moved on. Others do not. Some make life better, and others keep things worse.

But then I thought about change. Sometimes, highs become lows, and lows become highs. Trust me to say I’ll never let life’s lows bring me down from my highs. I was made to soar with the eagles.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil; For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
(Psalms 23:4 NKJV)

Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The everlasting God, the LORD,
The Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints nor is weary.
His understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might
He increases strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall,
But those who wait on the LORD
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.
(Isaiah 40:28-31 NKJV)
