1986, we prepared to move back to Texas after six years in Alaska. I didn’t want to go, but something felt right about the time. Good job. Good home. Good church. But something felt different.

I had been practicing for an Easter Performance at our church. I had an opening solo and was fearful of messing up. I’m not a solo singer; finding my key and staying on the note is hard.

The song lyrics are below. I did not know the song, but it was an old song. Written by the famed Fanny Crosby in 1880. It’s been around the blocks of hymnals through the years. I learned the song and fell in love with the opening phase, and perhaps that’s where I first thought about writing.

Write on my heart every word.

I’m still writing His story in my heart.
