Thought bubbles of yesterday, today and tomorrowLost in Yesterday

Yesterday is history, but the way our minds and lives work, sometimes we can’t get out of that sliver of life. That’s how I feel today. Yesterday hung around to this day, and there’s not much I can do about it.

I will remember nothing much about today; it’s a repeat of yesterday.

What’s the problem? Nothing. We’ve been awaiting a call for a scheduled action, and it seemed to put everything on hold. Have you ever heard of “limbo?” It’s not what some believe it to be. It’s the holding zone before decisions can be met and the future can arrive. It’s like sitting in the principal’s office before the punishment can be handed down. The waiting is the worst and worse than the punishment itself.

“If you fell down yesterday, stand up today.” ~H.G. Wells

One good thought of being lost in this zone, you catch up on the lost rest that exhaustion has presented.

Another good thing? Clarity is found when the schedule comes together, and action can be taken. Now you know where you are, and your schedule firms up!

Maybe this is like a disease. The symptoms are remembering the past better than the moment. If your yesteryear was interesting, then you might not care. Most of us did not have the greatest of past, or we did, but regardless, do we want to live in the past continually?

That’s Me… I had a great past, but I’m looking forward to all the tomorrows still to come.

I have too much to get done to be stuck with yesterday’s controlling my present and future. So, I’ll look at today, not living with yesterday as a noose around my neck, but living with the hope of tomorrow.

Tomorrow is the most important thing in life.
Comes into us at midnight very clean.
It’s perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands.
It hopes we’ve learned something from yesterday.
~John Wayne

Don’t live in your yesterday and gobble up today’s hours with stress, worry, inactivity, or wasting time. Even Jesus spoke of this thousands of years ago.

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow,
for tomorrow will worry about its own things.
Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
(Matthew 6:34 NKJV)

The writer of Hebrews describes the consistency of Jesus. The same as yesterday. Today. And Forever. (Hebrews 13:8) We know our own limitations, and we change between the past and through all our tomorrows. The good thing about the word yesterday, it isn’t talking about the previous 24 hours of time. Rather, it’s the accumulation of all the days leading up to the present. It’s the continuity of historical time.

This is my thought: Even if I’m stuck in yesterday, He’s there and still the same!

That’s my hope. When I dip into the memory of yesterday, I find a mixture of the good, bad, and downright ugly. Average it, and you’ll find the struggle of your yesterdays and whether being lost in yesterday is more harmful than good.
