Lighting a Match from a matchbox frictionWhat Sparks You?

Dear reader, I’m not trying to answer a question, but maybe from this thought, you can determine where your spark is, and determine why it’s not working as it once did.

Grinding wheels sharpen, slinging out almost harmless sparks.
Sparklers spark hot from fire and can spawn a blaze.
Matchstick blazes when scraped across friction.
Cigarette lighters create friction sparks to ignite their fuel.

In every case, sparks come from a form of friction.
Add a fuel source, and sparks create a blaze.
Something held tight, and something else rubs against it,
Create a spark that either works or doesn’t.

We are who and what we choose to be,
But sometimes I wonder and think about our choice.
Why we’ve “become” to be something we never thought we’d be.
Did your spark work or not, and what did you do about it?

There are times when fuel will not burn,
Even if there is a source of friction and ignition
Conditions may not be ripe, fuel may be watered down,
But get everything together at the right time,
You can create a blaze that will change you and us.

In everyone’s life, at some time, our inner fire goes out.
It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being.
We should all be thankful for those people

who rekindle the inner spirit. ~Albert Schweitzer

Circumstances and stances both come into play.
The right storm at the right time,
Beautiful sparks of lightning can fill the sky.
Though brief and beautiful, danger abounds.

Maybe the question is up to me. And you.
What once sparked a fervor, and what was the source of fuel?
It may be time to adjust, back up, slide over, or try again.
Find the conditions that will re-spark who you are.
Be the creator of your own momentum.

Keywords come to mind, and maybe you would add your own.
We rekindle a romance and ignite a relationship.
Or, we renew the conditions from which an answer buds forth.
It may take two, but something must begin with one.

What "Sparks" You? What once sparked your fervor? Can you find it again? Perhaps the issue is more about your fuel source. You can create that momentum again. Click To Tweet

Isaiah 1:31 NKJV

[The Hebrew word translated as “Spark” shows up only once in the O.T.]

The strong shall be as tinder,
And the work of it as a spark;
Both will burn together,
And no one shall quench them.

Isaiah 40:28-31 NKJV

Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The everlasting God, the LORD,
The Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints nor is weary.
His understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He increases strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall,
But those who wait on the LORD
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.
