Measuring the Weather with InstrumentsHoping for a Break in the Weather

Much of the nation has faced extreme heat, so much so that doctors in Arizona have been treating a rash of patients burned when they fall to the ground. [Read Here]

All of this and the “summer season” is just one month in, with two long months still to live through.

Break In The Weather:I realized how different we all are and how unique we find these circumstances to our liking, or perhaps, dislike, with a vengeance. Weather is the barometer of likes and dislikes. Click To Tweet

This morning we woke with not so much cooler weather, but temps that will not climb more than 15 degrees between sunrise and sunset. I call it a hot summer day. It’s 53. A little rain is forecasted; if that happens, this will be our first Summer Rain since the season began in June.

This is our normal summer weather.
But it makes me miss late fall, winter, and early spring.

I realized how different we all are and how unique we find these circumstances to our liking, or perhaps, dislike, with a vengeance. Weather is the barometer of likes and dislikes.

This could be the analogy of life or a parable of lessons we learn from life’s example.

Imagine a time when you could not get a break from the circumstances you lived through. No A/C or Heating system, or break from the unrelenting sun or freezing wind.

You lived through the event, hoping for a break in the weather.

This morning, I was thinking about storms and how some biblical folks were looking for a break in the weather. It could be Jonah. Or, Peter, the disciples, and Jesus asleep in the stern. Maybe it’s Paul on one of his missionary journeys.

This one arose at the top of my list.

Genesis 7:16-24 NKJV

So those that entered, male and female of all flesh,
went in as God had commanded him;
and the LORD shut him in.
Now the flood was on the earth forty days.
The waters increased and lifted up the ark,
and it rose high above the earth.
The waters prevailed and greatly increased on the earth,
and the ark moved about on the surface of the waters.
And the waters prevailed exceedingly on the earth,
and all the high hills under the whole heaven were covered.
The waters prevailed fifteen cubits upward,
and the mountains were covered.
And all flesh died that moved on the earth:
birds and cattle and beasts and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth,
and every man.
All in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life,
all that was on the dry land, died.
So He destroyed all living things which were on the face of the ground:
both man and cattle, creeping thing and bird of the air.
They were destroyed from the earth.
Only Noah and those who were with him in the ark remained alive.
And the waters prevailed on the earth one hundred and fifty days.

Genesis 8:1 NKJV

Then God remembered Noah,
and every living thing,
and all the animals that were with him in the ark.
And God made a wind to pass over the earth,
and the waters subsided.
