Man at sunset looking over the water with the sun settingWhat Does Today Say About You?

The life of approaching retirement
Is often a confusing experience
When life was once full of work and achievements
Today, you make life what you say it will be.

The days blend, and if you are not focused
One day or the other, any day will do
But don’t forget the important calendar
You still have things you must do.

Many decades ago, say back in the decade of birth
Sunday was always important – a full day spent at church.
But as you age and the times, the church has also changed.
Sunday has become just an hour here or maybe then.

Technology has come into play for much of what we do.
Our cars are computer marvels, doing more for us
Our attention has been drawn within more than without.
The day will come when automation means you don’t get to drive at all.

But don’t you remember when? Three on the tree,
An extra floor pedal to push and hard metal dashboards??
A/C was that little corner window, pushed just right to bring in outside air
And headlights were controlled by that little push button on the floor.
Go back far enough; no seatbelts were ever thought of,
There was a perfect sleeping deck above the back seat.
If you had a radio, then AM was the only way.

But here we are with Today.
It’s your opportunity to shine.
Take your best shot and make the best of it
This day will not come around again.

Genesis 1:27-31 NKJV

So God created man in His own image;
in the image of God He created him;
male and female He created them.
Then God blessed them, and God said to them,
“Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it;
have dominion over the fish of the sea,
over the birds of the air,
and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
And God said,
“See, I have given you every herb that yields seed
which is on the face of all the earth,
and every tree whose fruit yields seed;
to you it shall be for food.
Also, to every beast of the earth,
to every bird of the air,
and to everything that creeps on the earth,
in which there is life,
I have given every green herb for food”; and it was so.
Then God saw everything that He had made,
and indeed it was very good.
So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
