Morning After YesterdayMorning after Yesterday

Today is the first day of the next 90 days of life.
The Summer Solstice was accomplished at 7:47 a.m. this morning.
We officially call these the idyllic days of summer.
Beginning with the Longest Day and Shortest Night.

Equidistance between Day and Night is the Equinox
That happens when these 90 days are done.

Though life goes on, work remains with us.
Through the heat, humidity, and pressing demands.
Something inside tells me to enjoy
These next 90 days as they may be among the last.

As a child, we lived for these days.
Playing all day and late into the night.
Romping through woods, riding our bikes.
BB Guns, backyard campouts, fires, and fireworks.

Swimming! From pools to ponds or creeks.
Clean water? Who cares.
Skim the scum, toss sticks to scare snakes,
Find a clearing spot to leap from.

There’s fun to be had.

One of my better memories?
Vacation. From what I learned
There is value in vaccinations.
Vaccinate me with vacations.

Vacations always involved driving.
Getting from here to there took hours.
You learned to pack for the long haul.
Books, pens, paper, and even a game or two.

But perhaps the best memory
Revolves around family, as in Grandparents,
Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.
My, oh, my, what a fun time to gather!

Some were near, others farther away,
The experience of all is something I can say
These were some of the best times among the mundane.
Family, I learned, was where our strength came from.

Another thing I learned and that truth carries the day
There were no escapes from God. He’s always with us.
So, and maybe this is my main thought,
For the next 90 days – keep your heart in tune with God.

If you miss a weekend of church
Don’t let it be said you did not pray, worship, or
Even teach a lesson amongst your companions.
That’s when your 90 days will be perfect!

(After 400 years in Egypt, imagine this new season of delivery as the next 90 days. Will Israel make it?)

Exodus 7:1-6 NKJV

So the LORD said to Moses:
“See, I have made you as God to Pharaoh,
and Aaron your brother shall be your prophet.
You shall speak all that I command you.
And Aaron your brother shall tell Pharaoh
to send the children of Israel out of his land.
And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart,
and multiply My signs and My wonders in the land of Egypt.
But Pharaoh will not heed you,
so that I may lay My hand on Egypt
and bring My armies and My people,
the children of Israel,
out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.
And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD,
when I stretch out My hand on Egypt
and bring out the children of Israel from among them.”
Then Moses and Aaron did so;
just as the LORD commanded them,
so they did.
