Your New Year Algorithm

Okay. Over the past dozen years of writing, you know that I’m a proponent of algorithms. Some call them formulas, but really, algorithms are more. Many formulas or rules compile an algorithm. Algorithms are often the sum of more profound thoughts.

I may not be good at the math that produces many algorithms, but put it into English Words then I can relate!

I’m fond of collecting these formulas and algorithms as I continually research to improve myself. Screen Prints, Photos, Files, even old mimeographs! My life has been managing the flotsam and debris many tosses away. To them, it’s unvalued. To me, they are invaluable!

Underneath all these words must be a foundation.

What’s your foundation? It’s something we inherently know but seldom put into words. Some will call it their worldview, but they may not have dug deep to know which world they are talking about! Others float from one perspective without an anchor to define their harbor to another perspective that looks like greener pastures.

Honestly, most of us have not used such highfalutin phrases to define our foundation.

Rest assured, you do have a foundation. Sometimes it’s shifting as the sand in an hourglass. Other times it knows no boundaries as the Gulf Stream sweeping around the globe. Even if you think you have none, a foundation is concealed within your words, thoughts, and actions.

Declare Your World

This morning, I’m thinking about all the varieties and spices of life that come our way. If we depend on our foundation, worldview, formula, or algorithm alone, well, we may just be overrun.

It’s like knowing a person who is “always right” even when patently wrong!

Declare your world all you want, but what happens when nothing fits. No amount of finagling will repair the breach, cross the rising tide, or be your way of escape.

Unless. Into the equation of life, you must not count yourself out if you are on God’s side. You can always depend on Him!

He’ll never leave you nor forsake you. (Hebrews 13:5) He’s in the darkest pit full of lions (Daniel) or with you sitting in sackcloth and ashes (Job). When you are called before kings and lords, He’ll be right there with yoU! If you are tossed into the furnace He’s the fourth man in the fire. Face the challenge alone, and He’ll send his angels to protect you.

And when the servant of the man of God arose early and went out,
there was an army, surrounding the city with horses and chariots.
And his servant said to him, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?”
So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”
And Elisha prayed, and said, “LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.”
Then the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw.
And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
2 Kings 6:15-17 NKJV

Maybe what I’m trying to remind us wraps around this thought. Our foundation is built upon a Covenant Relationship with God. He’s there for us in our biggest challenge. Equally, we need to be with Him as He directs our path.

Could this be the best algorithm, formula, phrase, or worldview? You Betcha!

Start Your Year Right

#TwentyTwentyTwo may be your last year. It could also be the beginning of the best year of your life! Even if it’s your last year! Think that through! Don’t you want your last year to be your best??!!

Regardless of perspective or reality, let’s start the year right!
God is our foundation. No formula or algorithm works without Him at the center.

Our joy comes from Him, even when the darkness bodes an ill wind. The boogie man under the bed is commanded to flee, and if you have the “light” then you have the power!

God gives you His Word to know His Voice. He listens to your prayers as you voice your praise and needs to Him. Regardless of it all, you must live your own life.
