YesterdayYesterday

There’s not much I can do about yesterday.
It came, was spent, and ended a few hours ago.
But I can analyze actions and feelings.
Thus, I hope that today will be better.

Does this mean tomorrow will be better?
It depends on how we handle today.
The “right now” reality of yesterday’s vibes
And the worry about whether tomorrow will arrive.

The problem we often have?
Reliving yesterday’s successes and failures.
With pomp and pride, we crow.
With heads hung low, we moan.

Diamonds, stone, positive, negative…
Thankful and worried
Did we do it justice,
Or did we “just…” ice the pot?

Today is always with us.
Moment by moment.
Handling the yesterdays with kid gloves,
We wonder if tomorrow will fly.

This woke me up, at my usual time.
I’m not sure about the mixing bowl of viewpoints.
Lord, help me not stress over back then,
And let me see a better tomorrow,
But living today right side up!

Take therefore no thought for the morrow:
for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.
Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
(Matthew 6:34 KJV)
