Bodacious DreamingBodacious Dreaming

What would you do,
If you knew you couldn’t fail.
You could be successful at anything.
No fear or doubt.

Bodacious is “slang”
For “remarkable or outstanding.”
Of course, we know about dreaming.
Why not dream remarkably or outstandingly?

If dreaming can be conceived when planning,
And if our planning becomes action and doing,
Then why not plan for something out of this world?
The best you can do is at least conceive it,
Even if you never achieve.

Perhaps, at the very least, it’s me,
Dreaming is identifying what I think is a personal best.
While others dream of doing something big.
You know, big, bigger, better, and over the top.

Suppose I’m talking about me. I said it back in 1983.
I want to be the best me that me knows how.”
To keep working at getting better and never stop learning.
Growth will not happen at the risk of losing stability.

Nearing milestones acknowledging another trek around the sun,
It tells me that I can always strive to be better.
It’s daily and yearly. Keep dreaming bodaciously.
“Lord, help me never stop working on improvement.”

In fact, I’m planning on a personal improvement right now.
Wait! More than just one! Shouldn’t we all?
This is how I was trained. This is how I want to live.
My pastor taught me with words and actions.

Good, better, best.
Never let it rest.
Till your good gets better.
And your better gets best.

Romans 12:1-2 MSG

So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you:
Take your everyday, ordinary life—
your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—
and place it before God as an offering.
Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him.
Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking.
Instead, fix your attention on God.
You’ll be changed from the inside out.
Readily recognize what he wants from you,
and quickly respond to it.
Unlike the culture around you,
always dragging you down to its level of immaturity,
God brings the best out of you,
develops well-formed maturity in you.
