Twisted time and hands of the clockTaking Ownership

A friend told his doctor
Let me see if I can correct the situation.
No medicine for me, please.
Taking Ownership.
He did. It worked. Doctor pleased.

You strive to meet all obligations,
When choosing to let nothing slip through the cracks.
Yep. You know it. You Got This!
Taking Ownership.

Sometimes, time gets away from us.
More tasks than a day will allow.
From this, we learn better planning.
Yes. Take Ownership of your time.

I asked my bride to share a morning muffin.
No, she said, it didn’t agree with me last time.
That was October 2nd. Yesterday. What?
She took ownership and did not give in to temptation.

Yesterday morning, or perhaps by noon,
I had to leave the house. It’s my day off.
Where? Errands. Bank, dry cleaners, Post Office.
Oh, and lunch with the bride…
It’s me Enjoying Ownership of my responsibilities.

We Take Ownership every day, and much of the time, Success!
We don’t celebrate. It’s just the way life is.
But life is full of times when we let down our guard, uh oh…
We failed the deadline, but did we Take Ownership?

Today, I’m behind the proverbial 8-ball.
The tasks are more than I can handle.
The deadlines of ministry, planning, services, and travel.
Oh, no? Will I Take Ownership of our needs
Before Time slips away?

One day, I believe, we will stand before God,
And the Bible says the books will be opened.
Too late to make any changes. No mulligans here.
We must Take Ownership of where we stand.

Quit tossing blame everywhere else.
There is no one to blame, only yourself.
If you are going to be accountable for life,
Then, take ownership of your world. Right now!
That’s the only way to get through with your good name intact.

Hebrews 4:12-16 NKJV

For the word of God is living and powerful,
and sharper than any two-edged sword,
piercing even to the division of soul and spirit,
and of joints and marrow,
and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
And there is no creature hidden from His sight,
but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him
to whom we must give account.
Seeing then that we have a great High Priest
who has passed through the heavens,
Jesus the Son of God,
let us hold fast our confession.
For we do not have a High Priest
who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses,
but was in all points tempted as we are,
yet without sin.
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace,
that we may obtain mercy
and find grace to help in time of need.
