Nothing tangible lasts forever.

Icy conditions will fade
Because weather conditions change
How do they change?
I dunno. Ask a meteorologist.
Just remember, nothing lasts forever.

We’ve enjoyed record lows, ice storms,
and snow over the past few weeks.
Instead of looking at it negatively,
Seasonal weather makes an appearance;
after a season, it’s just a memory.

Last night, I scanned my photo library. What stays or go’s?
My cloud storage is increasingly bottlenecked
with too many photos and insufficient space.
The threat is real. The cloud wants to rain on my parade!
Buy more space, or trim the ranks!

Hundreds? Gone! Poof. Space magically appears.
Duplicates are deleted, and the blurred ones are trashed,
Even memories of times I no longer care about.
That’s easy. Try it. It’s cathartic. Clean! Directly to the trash!
Now it’s time for newsletters and influencers! Poof!

All those digital memories
and I looked at a few thousand
Some were senselessly stored
With the ease of modern technology
Remember, nothing lasts forever.

Friends, acquaintances, careers, and experiences
Here today. Gone tomorrow. Nothing but the memory remains.
Thousands were spent on what was thought important
Remanents of a fragrance, yet, like that skiff of ice.
Nothing, remember it well, but nothing lasts forever

Ornaments, wrapping, tinsels, and trees
Bought with a purpose or perhaps, a need
The season ends tomorrow
Snap! Just like that. Toss it out.
Why? You know. It was just for a season.

That gold watch, dangling reward, or plaque,
They represent a time, perhaps from a season.
Eventually, their importance fades
Toss it aside, or wait! Can it be put to use?
Maybe, but remember. Nothing lasts forever.

Over the past dozen years or so,
We’ve watched our appliances, big and small
Not up to the task of long-range life
Brand name, or purpose, all have a shelf life.
Nothing lasts forever.

Dig through your memories of times you cherish
Bring them to the light of a moment
They warm your heart. But when you are gone
Like all those collectibles that adorn
Poof! Gone. Just like that. Nothing lasts forever.
