Transparent or Translucent?

Personal Note: I’m sharing some blogs that I’ve written in the recent past but never published.

Early this morning (late 2021), I read the news of a connection to my past succumbing to COVID-19, Coronavirus, or whatever term you want to use for this scary, unseeable disease. He’s not the only one I know who has passed; all the while, many have been exposed.

During these insane times, we face a financial crisis and ruin for many folks unprepared for lost jobs, closed purchasing paths, and an inability to be mobile.

It came to me this morning. Blinding light? Perhaps. I’m blessed. I tweeted it out, but no one replied. It’s almost like I’m in a vacuum, and very few folks are interested in anything I say.

Transparent
We’ve been blessed with health and finances to survive these times.
The third leg of this position has been a safe place to isolate.
How do people survive when one of these foundations is shaken?
Psalms 30:5, 37:25… I learned this from God at age 16.

Transparent… What does this mean?

Often, we use this to indicate we have nothing to hide, and our motives, beliefs, and anything else we think is important are open to anyone who wants to comprehend who/what/why we are. Yet, too many are “translucent”… the light shines through their world just enough to shed some light, but there is no image of the person from the other side. Translucent is often described as semi-transparent. An image exists, but light cannot pass through clearly or cleanly. Or, they are simply opaque.

Which Are You?

Who are you? Are you transparent?

We all draw the curtain to separate our private lives from public view so we can maintain some privacy. This is important. But when I get in front of friends, it’s hard to mask who I am or what I believe and think. Read my body language, and you will probably comprehend who I am. Listen to my words, and they should speak my mind. Watch where I go, and you will understand who I am.

Who are you? What are you?

It’s always tiring to determine the motive behind the image of the person before you. Calories get burned, gray matter is expended, and I reach the point where I know you are probably not worth my energy. Is that transparent enough?

Is this how you want Jesus to manage his connection to you?

Where Do We Draw The Line?

The comfort between who we are today and where we hope to be tomorrow… Well, that’s my question this morning. How can we live accurately in a crazy world without being trounced for what we believe from our silent and hidden corners? It’s tough.

I feel a Popeye moment, “I ‘yam what I ‘yam.” And that’s been who I’ll always be.
