The last of a bummer year, or how I at least like to consider 2021. It’s about over. Was it such a horrible time? Only time will tell. Living through it, and hoping for change, well, change it did! It was not the “recovery” year prayed for, nor was it the best year with new voices in control. It’s just been weird!

I will be ending this strange season, and prayerfully put what started in 20/20 behind me. Wait! It began in 2019, that’s why the virus is called C-19. (I don’t use the “C” word any longer.)

So. Next year? I’m using the hash tag #TwentyTwentyTwo! Aiming higher than I have a right to expect, I pray for a banner year of new opportunities, healing old wounds, mounting blessings we are unable to contain, and rebounds to stretch our imagination.

During this month that closes out 2021, I’m revisiting some of my favorite old blog posts and updating them. I’ve been actively blogging since I wrote my main thought for writing back on June 30, 2010. “Algorithms For Life” That’s approaching 12 years in #TwentyTwentyTwo!

Could it be that’s it’s high time, no, past time, to put some words into printed form? Well, that’s what #TwentyTwentyTwo will be all about. For pastoral appreciation, my church donated some cash my way to prepare for a book. Each Sunday in October gave me a special recognition – painted, spoken, given and even a recording from a young man I love! Hey, there, Joshua! There was a cool poem I think you’d get a kick out of. The challenge has been presented, and I’m ready to fly. #TwentyTwentyTwo, here I come!

#TwentyTwentyTwo

As I prepare to weed through my posted words, adding some new thoughts, I will be spending a majority time reposting old thoughts as if they are new. Why? I’m polishing my words and thoughts, grooming my theme, consolidating an approach, and mining my posts. Guess what! There’s gold in ‘dem ‘der hills!

Will you join me as I munch through my older thoughts? Share your input. Give me something to mull over. Tell me what I’m missing. Better yet, help me see more clearly. We are better in life together. No one operates in a vacuum. Nor are we an island unto ourselves. Life is better lived with others, no matter how much I like to be alone!

If you would consider contacting me, you can start the process here. If you don’t know me, or have never reached out to me, this simple contact form will start the ball rolling. As you connect, I’ll reply, and you can reach me via email. [Contact Me – Michael Gurley] Did you ever have a pen pal? Back in elementary school I attempted to communicate with a boy from India. It worked for several months, then finally passed down the road. I wish I had saved those letters. It’s not my plan that we start out as pen pals, but communication always helps me!

Opening a conversation is the starting point, and we all need that place to begin connecting with others.

Everywhere I go I have a favorite phrase to open conversation, “Where you from originally?” It may sound like a daunting task, but you would be amazed where this question can take you.

I asked a clerk this very question several days ago at a big box store. Come to find out, she’s not from where we are on our vacation, but I know people from her hometown. Guess what? Her mom hails from Anchorage, Alaska! We could have chatted for a while, but other customers were waiting. I pray I gave her something to think about. It’s a Small World After All!

Help me write, and I pray, I’ll help you think life through from a distinct perspective!

Do I have a title? Maybe. You’ll have to stay connected with me, and somewhere down the road, you’ll find out.

(I’m wearing the same shirt as in the photo for this blog. Only, I’m writing on my computer and not my iPhone!)

Blessings!
