When I was young…my first coin collection revolved around the penny. It was easy, they were all over the place, and most were older than my parents!

Back then, penny candy was popular. The store. You could buy a lot of variety with just a few cents. Kits were…and still are my favorite! Gum ball machines took penny’s.

From the Abraham Lincoln Library comes this message:

The first #AbrahamLincoln pennies were issued #OnThisDay in 1909. One fun story of the penny comes from construction of the ALPLM. The tiles in the center of the building proved to fit imperfectly, and a worker placed a penny over the gap. It is still there today.

Today, August 2nd…1909!

I think a trip to all presidential libraries is important, but this would certainly be my starting point!
