Morning PuzzleMorning Puzzle - Is it about life?

There are two special times of any day, and I’m blessed to get to enjoy them both. If you’ve been far north, then you understand the concept of the lengthening daytime hours and shorter nights in a grand sort of way. You watch the sun as it comes up in the east (sort of) and sets in the west (sort of).

It’s a puzzle of life, but one I enjoy getting to be involved in.

Early this morning, the sun crept over the horizon, spotlighting and blinding out my view of Mt Rainier. It was around 6 a.m., and I had been up for an hour or so. The coffee pot was half full (not half empty), my blinds were opened, and I watch the eastern skies as they lightened up. The birds are swooping and diving long before the sun makes a full appearance.

Sunrise is in full swing!

34 degrees, and mists sweep through the yard, and frost is left behind, to quickly become dew as the sun gets higher in the sky.

This evening, around 8 p.m., I’ll enjoy the setting sun. The temps will drop rapidly from 70 into the 40’s. You’ll feel the cold patches of air as the warmth of the sun bleeds away. It’s one of the most heavenly feelings on earth! The coolness after the blast of heat.

The day will end as it began. Darkness prevails. Perhaps the stars will make an appearance. If they do then you’ll know the night will be even cooler. You see, a blanket of clouds traps the days heat and the night is warmer. Pull back that blanket and the crispness of colder air will be felt, as the heat dissipates.

Day will end as it began. Darkness will prevail. Wait long enough and the cycle begins again. Click To Tweet

Here’s My Thought Today

It’s part of the puzzle of life, but we judge our accomplishments by what we do between the hours of sunrise and sunset.

Pause with me. Look over your shoulder and judge whether you spent the sunshine hours of yesterday with purpose and accomplishment. Or, did you perhaps waste some precious daylight and thus regret it with a sense of loss?

You don’t have to stay with that focus! You can bemoan the loss of yesterday, or you can purpose to spend today with a focus to accomplish. Why?

My sun sets to rise again.
~Robert Browning

It’s not that we always put off till tomorrow, but we understand that there is a tomorrow waiting for us to show up. Unless we’re talking about the twilight of life, we will always have tomorrow. Right? Maybe.

Jesus was sharing a thought about the worries we carry with us throughout the day, and the ones that will show up tomorrow.

“”So don’t ever worry about tomorrow.
After all, tomorrow will worry about itself.
Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
Matthew 6:34 (GW)

So. I want to make full use of the day while it is light. There’s much to accomplish and so few hours between Sunrise and Sunset.

Of Course, There’s A Song

In fact there are many songs. Suddenly, I hear Freddy Fender sings about wasted days and wasted nights…but that’s not my focus today! That’s not my thought! Who put that there???!

Then my mind sweeps to “The Fiddler on the Roof”… Sunrise, Sunset, Swiftly rolls the years!

Hold it! That’s not the one I’m thinking about! It’s a gospel focused song. Do you remember it?

I Know Who Holds Tomorrow

I don’t know about tomorrow, I just live for day to day.
I don’t borrow from the sunshine, For it’s skies may turn to gray
I don’t worry o’er the future, For I know what Jesus said
And today I’ll walk beside Him, For He knows what lies ahead

[Refrain]
Many things about tomorrow,I don’t seem to understand
But I know who holds tomorrow,And I know who holds my hand

Ev’ry step is getting brighter, as the golden stairs I climb
Ev’ry burden’s getting lighter, Ev’ry cloud is silver lined
There the sun is always shining, There no tear will dim the eye
At the ending of the rainbow. Where the mountains touch the sky.
