If you clicked to read, you may have something in common with me. Perhaps it’s our roots of the past, life in the present, or somewhere in the future we will connect.
Betwixt is simply an archaic term to mean “between” and this is where I find myself this morning. Between the two.
I imagined myself as a young person with a line in the future, and slowly I’m migrating from hither to yon. Hand over hand, I’m pulling myself from this shore, to that shore. I’m not where I was yesterday, nor am I where I will be tomorrow.
I’m betwixt the two.
If you’ve ever fly-fished, then you may even catch this better from that angle. Where’s the best place to be? It’s seldom on the banks. That means you are either starting, or ending, or, you are simply wishing for the middle.
Can you imagine the moment. You know you need to be betwixt the banks to land the best catch. Get your feet wet, and wet the line from the middle. Follow the flow, fight the current, watch for the slippery rocks. All the while you’re searching for catch of the day.
Today, not yesterday’s victories, or tomorrow’s promise. Not yesterday’s challenges, or tomorrow’s uncertainty. You are betwixt the past and future. You are in your present.
Right Now
Betwixt. Between. Now. What you have in your hands, do the most productive thing you can accomplish! Do not stress about yesterday, or worry about tomorrow, but manage your day, while it is yet day.
This year has been dealing with life in a way I never dreamt would be in my path. Right now. This week, I’ve been dealing with some challenges that were not there yesterday, and who knows what the morrow brings. I can only live the present. Today. Right now.
Right now. Between the banks of the past and future, with my reel in hand, and the catch is there waiting for me. Quit stressing over the past. Fret not about tomorrow. Deal with right now.
Plan your day, but be ready for the unexpected. You are betwixt yesterday and tomorrow, and there are plenty of surprises!
Live your day, but know there are challenges from your past that will haunt you today, and fears of tomorrow may bring you low.
One day you will stand on the far shore. Your journey will be judged by how you walked day by day, step by step, second by second. Will you make the best of today so tomorrow counts? Share on X
