Northern Lights…and yes, there are Southern Lights if you go far enough.
North: Aurora Borealis.
South: Aurora Australis.

It was about 1982 or maybe ’83… Late night home from church. As we walked to the front door, a happenstance glance above, and the Northern Lights were dancing. Rapidly. It’s almost like they were playing chase. The swirling was dazzling. We woke the kids! Look! They glanced and slid back to slumber. It must have been about Zero Degrees. Snow hard packed. Sidewalk slick. Had the next day not been long, I would have stayed out all night until the Aurora Borealis went to sleep themselves.

I made a note to myself last night. Washington isn’t where I’ve always wanted to be. But this is where God sent us. Yet, while here, I’ve watched the night flash with shooting stars, a meteor at night’s end glaring across the sky on its space journey: satellites, Space Station, and even what the ap calls Space Junk. The night handiwork of God tells me all I need to know, but like that young boy of 12, I gaze and wonder… Does Space End?
