Aged and worn books on a shelf.
I Do This Every Day

Stories that are now considered classics,
Although, at the time, who knew?
Huxley, Stewart, Bradbury, London, Sinclair, even Baum.
Those names keep coming. I must silence that part of my brain!
Their writings shaped future thought.
With words that founded a culture of readers.

If you could pick those names out of the pile
And name the books they are known for,
The ultimate question might be
Did you read because you wanted to, or were perhaps forced
By a teacher or class at school?

Books. Classic. Because of the writing and story,
By authors who knew the way words were written.
Bring us a foundation of thought and a way of sharing their world.
A new statistic is born in this modern time of eBooks.
Nearly 2 million published annually, and over 12 million exist on Kindle.

This thought pops on my horizon.
How will an author become a classic in the press of this modern age, I ask?
How will a new author stand out? Get their point across?
How brave must one be to join the crowd of writers trying to publish?

Every so often, an elder title pops on my horizon.
I pick it up on Kindle because there’s “No Room.”
In my 50 boxes of books.
I’ve gone electronic as much as possible.
My digital library is full of classics, and the tool I read with
Allows me to make notes, highlight, and easily share anywhere.

Classic Book - The Bible as Literature

I found a book sometime back that challenged me with Scripture.
Published in 1936, and not the first printing in my hands, it said…
“Designed to be Read as Living Literature”
Think about the stories in those hallowed pages.
Do you want Classic? Read The Bible.
You don’t know Classic until you include this as a read.

Thank you for reading.
Please share with others.
It helps me get my book written!
