This morning, I was thinking about something,
And this phrase came to mind,
Before I could think it all the way through,
An opposite position showed up.
“Keep your head down…”
As in below the line of sight (or gun fire!).
Then, “Stand tall, keep your head up…”
as in holding your bearing facing opposition.
A proverb attributed to way too many people…
“If you want to go fast, go alone.
If you want to go far, go together.”
When I travel? Fast and Far don’t fit here!
“The name of the Lord is a strong tower,
and the righteous run into it and are safe…” (Proverbs 18:10)
Whereas Paul tells us to put on the whole armor,
And in the face of challenge? Stand. (Ephesians 6:13)
We seem to think it important to celebrate birthdays.
The older I get, the less I think so.
It’s my day, so leave me alone.
There. Now, I don’t have to remember yours!
See how I snuck that in?!!?
Of course, we struggle with finding the right path,
Between doing and being right from wrong.
A fine line often with a pesky balance,
No matter how hard you try, you will make mistakes.
Opposites are something I’m comfortable with.
Right from left, up from down, straight or backward,
Big step, little step, jump forward (abound) or backward.
Life is about making the opposites work at the correct time.
So, let’s focus on the future,
And that begins in the present.
Past failures and victories? History!
From now forward, it’s the future.
Let’s simply do better.
The banner of the Lord goes before us…
But He is our rear-guard.
Both places? At once? Why not?
He’s everywhere all that time.
For ye shall not go out with haste,
nor go by flight:
for the LORD will go before you;
and the God of Israel will be your rereward.
(Isaiah 52:12 KJV)
