It’s time to close the year, last weekend!
Today, we say hello to the last three days.
Whatever we thought there was yet to do,
It’s now time to close the books
And push the unfinished to the next year.
2024? It will be busier than ever.
Through the years, I’ve asked thousands of times:
“It’s Friday, right?”
If nothing more, it’s a conversation starter,
But every so often, it stirs a moment of confusion.
Is it? Or is it “my Friday,” even though the day says another?
Then, an answer comes. Yes. No. Or, “It’s mine!”
We all know when our Friday falls!
This Friday leads me to the Last Sunday.
That concerns me more than anything.
The last of a year that has been as strange as any.
I’ve lost connections, friends, and loved ones.
Will we ever make up for what we’ve lost?
Probably not, and never again will we revert backward.
The algorithms are designed to keep us moving forward.
Unsure of the next steps of the new year,
I worry we are ill-prepared for the future.
AI will tear apart many norms, and we are unready.
Unsteady? Yes. It’s too much like being unready.
On too many fronts, I’ve experienced the loss of stability.
In myself and just about all others around me.
Rejected. Mistrusted. But I find my foundation strong. Sure.
Nothing will stop me, unless I’m willing to stop myself.
We had subfreezing temps last month,
But now it’s balmy in the 40s and 50s.
It’s still wet, but not so woolly.
The wind storms have not materialized.
What has that got to do with Friday?
The holidays have rescheduled our garbage service.
It gets handled today. Friday.
Friday has many names and titles.
Good, Last, or even First.
The day of the crucifixion.
We even give it colors, like Black.
We want it to be part of the weekend,
Or is that a Monday.
Regardless, enjoy your Last Friday.
The last of the year, 2023,
and the kickoff of a really good weekend!
Friday…Enjoy it…to the last drop!
