The older I get, the more tired my eyes become.
One doctor says it’s muscle strain,
Another says it’s the eye losing its power,
And still, someone else says, “It happens to everyone. Face it!”
Though my natural vision wears out,
Trifocals are possible. But I feel it’s not worthy of me.
Though stress and strain make them tired,
The blessed 10-15 minute power nap restores!
My eyes keep seeing, and for that, I’m thankful.
It’s natural and necessary. Life would be different without.
For without, I could not drive, read, or watch.
Protect them, I do, more than any other sense.
In a natural sense, as well as Spiritual,
The Word speaks volumes to me
And has for many decades of life.
If I take it for face value, there is a progression.
Do you know David? The Psalmist and King?
He writes:
Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.
Psalms 119:105 NKJV
His son, Solomon, continues the thought:
For the commandment is a lamp,
And the law a light;
Reproofs of instruction are the way of life,
Proverbs 6:23 NKJV
But Jesus points His view into our minds.
“No one, when he has lit a lamp, puts it in a secret place or under a basket,
but on a lampstand, that those who come in may see the light.
The lamp of the body is the eye.
Therefore, when your eye is good, your whole body also is full of light.
But when your eye is bad, your body also is full of darkness.
Therefore take heed that the light which is in you is not darkness.
If then your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, the whole body will be full of light, as when the bright shining of a lamp gives you light.”
Luke 11:33-36 NKJV
I want to be a light to others.
That’s my spiritual call today.
If my natural vision fails me,
His Spirit will light the way.
Today? I need the natural vision.
But I always need spiritual vision.
Glasses help with the first. But then?
His Presence always gives me the best.
And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal,
proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb.
In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river,
was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits,
each tree yielding its fruit every month.
The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
And there shall be no more curse,
but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it,
and His servants shall serve Him.
They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads.
There shall be no night there:
They need no lamp nor light of the sun,
for the Lord God gives them light.
And they shall reign forever and ever.
Revelation 22:1-5 NKJV
