In this cord-cutting world of mobile phones,
we still tether ourselves to cell towers, land, and satellite connections,
Remember, still, there are dead zones all around.
We still have a landline, but at least the handset near me is wireless.
What’s the deal?
I’m awaiting a call from a family member so I can discuss his health needs with him and his doctor. Heart issues lead the charge, but there are many other side-liners that cannot be cared for.
The heart must be fixed first.
So, I keep my cell phone in hand and the home phone inches away.
The day is long, time is short, and schedules are loaded to support others. I used an alarm clock to wake up early. Another cup of coffee is at hand. An atmospheric river of rain is still falling. Sun arises in an hour.
A power outage will ruin the moment.
Everything is on hold. I’m awaiting a call.
