Someone else said it recently, but I noted it for me.
The Rule of Three examines life, situations, good times, and bad.
There must be something magical and mystical,
The number of fingers between the thumb and pinky equals three.
Of course, since the doctrine of the Trinity took rise long after Christ,
Many quotes and thoughts are revolving around the number three.
Of course, a trinity is not found in scripture by using the word,
But that doesn’t stop anyone from thinking about the scope of threes.
As in, “The third time is a charm.” meaning you finally got it right.
But turn to Baseball, and it’s “Three strikes, you’re out!“
There are three things extremely hard:
steel, a diamond, and to know one’s self.
~Benjamin Franklin
Trade the language to something older, say, Latin.
Omne trium perfectum.
A trio of Latin words to convey a simple overarching philosophy:
“Everything that comes in threes is perfect.”
Of course, life must have a lesson of three to find success.
1. If you don’t go after what you want, you’ll never have it.
2. If you don’t ask, the answer is always no.
3. If you don’t move, you’re always in the same place.
Einstein’s Three Rules of Work:
1) Out of clutter find simplicity;
2) From discord find harmony;
3) In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.
~Albert Einstein
When we think in terms of war,
Einstein said it like this:
“I know not what weapons WW3 will be fought with,
But WW4 will be fought with slingshots.”
To Thrive In Life
You need three bones,
A wishbone,
A backbone,
And a funny bone.
~Reba McIntire
Dorthy could finally leave Oz,
And return to that Black and White farm,
By clicking her shoes together three times and saying,
“There’s no place like home.”
General MacArthure said it like this:
“Duty, Honor, Country. Those three hallowed words
Reverently dictate what you ought to be, what you can be,
And what you will be.
Can you say what’s important with just three words?
I like this title from Leadership Freak,
When writing short quotes from famous leaders.
“Words Are Rudders.“
We should do three things every day of our life.
Number one is laugh. You should laugh every day.
Number two is to think, we should spend some time in thought.
And, number three is you should have your emotions moved to tears.
~Jim Valvano
If you think this through and recall all the options,
The Rule of Three makes an appearance in many places.
Two’s a company, Three’s a Crowd.
Three Ring Circus.
As easy as 1, 2, 3.
“Bad luck comes in threes / bad things come in threes / bad luck happens in threes.”
“Hear no evil. Speak no evil. See no evil.” (But it says nothing about our thoughts!)
Finally, because scripture is more important to me than these, let me bring you something from John.
This is He who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ;
not only by water, but by water and blood.
And it is the Spirit who bears witness,
because the Spirit is truth.
For there are three that bear witness in heaven:
the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit;
and these three are one.
And there are three that bear witness on earth:
the Spirit, the water, and the blood;
and these three agree as one.
