Arrow showing to back upWeek in Review

There are many weeks we live through
When we reach the end of seven days
Looking over our shoulders at the events
We sigh, wipe our brow, and say Whew!

Sunday started out good, but each day brought news.
A death, an urgent care, a weird diagnosis,
Suddenly, the weight of the world is heavy
How do we get out from under it?

This Saturday afternoon, I know,
Much of what I’ve experienced I’m made for.
Nothing more than that, says the Word,
But with each weight, I lift it up, and I grow.

Finally, I step into my backyard office, and it’s 2 p.m.,
Just as the day heats up, inside, it’s 61, comfy and cool.
This temperature is made for me as I was made for this week.
Lord, help me never forget the blessings of lessons learned along the way.

This week, I’ve felt God’s strength helping with my load
The death of a friend weighed heavy all week long
But I know, at least for him, the load is totally gone.
One day, someday, make it through; that’s the same for me and you.

Do not let anyone tell you it’s an impossible task.
The week God gave you is yours to handle.
Encourage yourself in the Lord, as David did,
Keep your focus forward. There’s an end in sight.

2 Timothy 4:1-5 NKJV
[Paul’s last exhortation to his protege, Timothy.]

I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ,
who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom:
Preach the word!
Be ready in season and out of season.
Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine,
but according to their own desires,
because they have itching ears,
they will heap up for themselves teachers;
and they will turn their ears away from the truth,
and be turned aside to fables.
But you be watchful in all things,
endure afflictions,
do the work of an evangelist,
fulfill your ministry.
