Self-imposed deadlines produce anxiety and frustration
As the moment of completion swings through the gate,
Knocks on the front door and demands satisfaction.
Timidly, you hide from the moment, hoping it will go away.
You may not know my circumstance,
But I’m sure you understand the feeling.
We’ve all been there… Done that…
And promised next time will be different.
As I gaze upon the landscape of this modern world
It’s easy to see that we don’t do better the next time.
We keep repeating the same mistakes over and over
And the grander scale of life results in disaster.
What could be once adored in a toddler
Reality says it will become the downfall as the age increases.
Toddler personalities repeated down the road of aging
Will produce an immature aged child fraught with failures.
It’s like a snowball perched on a cliff,
Closer to the edge of the last appearance.
It takes its final plunge into the valley below
Like a sneak attack, it disintegrates with disaster.
This morning,
Juggling multiple deadlines in the air,
I’m reminded that I’m not in this challenge alone.
But, alone, I feel the weight of pressing moments.
What do I do?
Pull the plug and walk away?
No. That’s never been me. But I can dream!
Maybe it’s time to share the load?
But that means others will be ensnared with the need.
At this moment, I pause and realize,
True leadership never walks away from the moment.
There is a persevering spirit that will not give up.
Nor turn away, let it go, or quit trying. Nope. That’s not me!
Don’t turn away from your responsibilities.
There’s gold to be found when you meet them head-on.
Remember, you are a child of God.
Failure is not written in your DNA.
Romans 5:1-8 NKJV
[Emphasis is always mine, even the formatting.]
Therefore, having been justified by faith,
we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
through whom also we have access by faith
into this grace in which we stand,
and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
And not only that,
but we also glory in tribulations,
knowing that tribulation produces perseverance;
and perseverance, character;
and character, hope.
Now hope does not disappoint,
because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts
by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
For when we were still without strength,
in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
For scarcely for a righteous man will one die;
yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die.
But God demonstrates His own love toward us,
in that while we were still sinners,
Christ died for us.
