Savoring The Day, West Yellowstone

The trip is underway,
Vaccay is what we call it.
No matter the place or time,
Take a huge moment and simply
Savor the Day.

Life is often a harried pace
With many tasks to dot the landscape
But there’s something special
About pulling back. Do nothing.
Focus on savoring the day.

This morning, here in West Yellowstone
It’s promised snow, wind, ice, and more!
There’s nothing better for me to do
Than to sit in anticipation of the day.
Savoring – See! They have snow stakes out!

I lit the fire in the fireplace
The heat drove me outdoors
30 Degrees, still, calm, barely light.
Listen to the sounds of nothing
We all hope the day can be savored.

How you flavor your life with choice
Busyness, craziness, and the like
Mine will always be away, far, far, away
From the hurried pace of people
Where I can be alone, yes, enjoying the day.

A fresh brew of hot, black, liquid gold
I wish for a donut to dunk, added enjoyment
It’s quiet but for another voice across the way.
Another soul, sitting outside, and we’re both
Savoring the day.
