Don’t waste time worrying about how you spent
Time and space, getting to the place you are.
Whether tired, happy, or sad, or what
Don’t worry about the effort; you are where you are.
Don’t waste that effort; you spent it so well.
Nor moan the expense of time, space, or waste,
Just take advantage of the space you are in right now
Accept it. Own it. It’s yours.
But perhaps one thing could be done
To make sure this path you chose
From which you pause, look back.
Is it truly what you had planned?
This morning, I’m overly tired.
Three hours of sleep two nights ago
Caused much loss of effort
To get to this midweek day.
One night of rest may pay it back
But being tired seems to stay on. And on.
There’s got to be a way to unload
The stress. The tiredness. The day.
Pick yourself up in this moment of thought
Lay your burdens on the One who gets you through
You can improve the outcome. It’s true.
By making the change that begins with you.
Learn to say no, or let’s try this instead of that
Striving to share the load more readily
Just expect someone else will feel their pain
As you do right now, they may also say no.
Accept it. It’s their right to know their limits
Don’t push anyone past that boundary of peace
Or safety, or into the space from which they may break
Help others learn how to own their tiredness
Just as you are learning to own yours.
Don’t waste the tiredness. Instead.
Learn from it. Teach from it. Be the better example.
You are growing by what you’ve learned.
So share the lesson. Don’t waste it. It’s yours.
Weary, Though Attempting To Do Life Well
There is a similarity between being weary and tired. Both zap your strength, make you weak, and divide your attention. From one, you may never be ready to accept the challenge, and from the other, you cannot even lift your head. Either leads to depression and complete loss of strength.
Accept these scriptures from the Bible that walk us through these life paths. Find strength, purpose, and a better way to deal with the moment.
As cold water to a weary soul, So is good news from a far country.
(Proverbs 25:25 NKJV)
To whom He said, “This is the rest with which You may cause the weary to rest,”
And, “This is the refreshing”; Yet they would not hear.
(Isaiah 28:12 NKJV)
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
(Isaiah 40:28-31 NKJV)
Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”
(Matthew 9:35-38 NKJV)
And let us not grow weary while doing good,
for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
Therefore, as we have opportunity,
let us do good to all,
especially to those who are of the household of faith.
(Galatians 6:9-10 NKJV)
I came to Jesus as I was,
I was weary, worn, and sad
I found in Him a resting place
And He has made, made me glad
