Aim High. Fly Higher.

Through the years, I’ve been good at remembering quotes but horrible at reciting them correctly. How do people always seem to have a ready quotable quote at their fingertips?

I attend many webinars and always pay attention to the backdrop when it’s from someone’s personal location. What do they like well enough to have on their wall or shelves behind them? Books? Posters? Art? Decorations?

Perhaps my training as a high-school photographer always pointed out what you never thought would make a print cringeworthy—the backdrop.

Additionally, I read many books and am always highlighting and noting a particular set of words that describe a unique way of looking at life.

At times, it’s almost like reading a Burma Shave roadside commercial.

Cheer up face / The war is past / The “H” is out / Of shave / At last / Burma-Shave

If images and words can tell a story, why not create a montage of scripture quotes that mean something to you and use them on your walls or social posts? We have a calligraphy scripture quote at the front of the church that I remember from a church during my younger years.

One thing have I desired of the LORD,
that will I seek after;
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD
all the days of my life,
to behold the beauty of the LORD,
and to enquire in his temple.
(Psalms 27:4 KJV)

Give a shout-out if you know where this one was!

My pastor used to say this all the time:

Good, better, best.
Never let it rest.
Till your good gets better.
And your better gets best.
~Rev James L Kilgore

If you could describe yourself with one quote, what would it be?

Your Most Quotable Quote: What would it be if you could describe yourself with one quote? Years ago, I told a boss, "I want to be the best me that me knows how." Click To Tweet

Years and decades ago, I told a boss something that is still with me today: “I want to be the best me that me knows how.” He was suggesting I be more like him. I still cringe when I think of that image!

How About You?

How about you? Who do you find yourself quoting, and what is that most notable quote? You can Google all day long and find good quotes everywhere, but before I share one, I research to find out if it can appropriately be attributed to that person.

Still, a quote can be good even if it’s wrongly attributed to a particular person. They may have said it, but it may not have originated with them. Frequently, I use a quote investigator to track down the earliest reference. Sometimes the source is unknowable.

I’m creating a quote library here in my blog. I would love to have a quote of yours or one you’ve stood by for years because it helps you see life better. How about sharing?

Just this morning, a quote from Elvis Presley as written in one of his bibles flyleaf:
