I’m enjoying sharing some reading favorites and new finds.
I’ve been reading this author for a couple of years…maybe since the pandemic started. I’m not sure how his books came across my horizon, but I’ve enjoyed reading Charles Martin. He has written many novels, and I think I’ve read them all.
He’s not limited to novels but writes a personal approach to understanding Christ.
Isn’t that what we want to comprehend?
His novels tell stories of recovery after bottoming out. Detailed parables are how I look at it. Jesus gave us the high-level story, and Charles Martin dug in deep.
The latest book I’ve started reading is What If It’s True. (If you click and perchance buy the book, I may make a few pennies of the recommendation.) He shares the answer to his search to the question:
“What if every single word of Scripture is absolutely true and I can trust it?
How do I respond? Something in me should change, but what? How?”
Maybe this book is for you if you’ve ever found yourself in such a place. Again, if you know someone asking this question, this book may be just what the doctor ordered. Regardless, it contains some thought-provoking questions, research, and answers without sounding like a doctrinal, theological treatise. He is just a man asking questions and sharing his research.
This gave me pause. What would I write if I were to ask the same question of myself? What if it’s true? Could I share my insight in such a colorful way? I’m not sure. Thank you, Charles Martin!
