While driving home yesterday, I shared my focus for today with my bride. I’m tired of No… It’s time for Yes… I got quiet in my mind and spirit and thought it through.
I’ve said it recently, “There’s something about a “No” that speaks to me of opportunity.”
Henry Ford said it like this: If you think you can or can’t, you’re right.
It’s about learning how to turn negatives into positives. If today is the time to start the process, why not now? Not tomorrow, or even after church, let’s begin the process Now!
I am turning my negatives into positives. Now!
Negatives to Positive? Yes! Now….
You may not remember much about math from your school years. My teachers taught us the rule: You can turn a negative into a positive even if the negative seems overwhelming.
- A Positive plus a Negative takes the sign of the largest integer.
- A Negative plus a Negatives always equals a Negative.
- A Positive plus a Positive always equals a Positive.
I’m sure there were other rules, but these three stuck with me. How do you overwhelm a negative? By having a more significant positive!
This works in every aspect of your life. A single positive can overcome columns of negatives. Just one positive! That’s all it takes!
David teaches this all the time! When my heart is overwhelmed…lead me to that rock that is higher than I! (Psalms 61:2) He brings me out of a horrible pit and sits me on a strong rock by his side! (Psalms 40: 2)
David is never done giving up on the Lord! Not should we? God is our biggest positive against all the negatives, even if they are of my own doing.
When my life is falling apart, and everything seems to be negative, the one thing positive I can say:
Unless the LORD had been my help,
My soul would soon have settled in silence.
If I say, “My foot slips,”
Your mercy, O LORD, will hold me up.
In the multitude of my anxieties within me,
Your comforts delight my soul.
Psalms 94:17-19 NKJV
