A New Day in the Judean Desert

My focus on writing has always been laced with better news and views. The times are bad for some, mediocre for others, and if you are in the select groups of “it’s all great!” you are few and far between. If I could change my focus for this first Monday of August 2022, I would say, “There’s a new day, so there!” Take it or leave, like it or lump it, grow into it or slip back to a different place.

I’m focused on the fact that the day is new,
the audience is different,
and the challenges are strange…
But I’m making it!

Over the past few years I’ve had to change my focus. Those on my radar are drifting to the outer edges of the scope. Soon, as with the days we’ve lived through, they will be gone. God provides a new focus. My aging life is part of my new focus. Energies are dynamically changing. The horizon is focused differently. My goal for triple digits is doable!

But what will life be like in those years to come?

Moses was not allowed into the promised land. Perhaps because of his age and focus, or sin and anger, we can let time tell the story. What I read between the lines is this: God’s plan for Israel demanded a different leadership. There’s a new day!

Moses was one hundred and twenty years old when he died.
His eyes were not dim nor his natural vigor diminished.
Deuteronomy 34:7 NKJV

The patriarchs of old looked to the future, but each of them realized there came time for a new day. Next generation? Step up! Fill the shoes and take us forward! Abraham died at the age of 175. (Genesis 25) Was his job done? Next! His son, Isaac? Died at the age of 180. (Genesis 35) Was his job done? Next!

The key to my thought today? We each have a shelf life. Let’s spend those days wisely. Someone else is in the wings, ready to step up and into the traces. You? By faith, you will enjoy your New Day! So, There!

We all have time to finish what we’ve started, but you need to know there’s a new day coming! Get ready for it!
