Requirements of Success
Find Success as you climb.

There has been a theme rolling through my world, and it’s coming from many sources. If you want to be identified by something you enjoy, then you must become the action word to reach that positional place. There are many examples. To be an adventurer, you must go on adventures. If you want to be a web designer, you must learn to design. Those of you that want to survive? Well, you work hard at being a survivor.

It’s often about attitude, perspective, gumption, git’er up and git’ter done focus!

Maybe, and perhaps this is a syndrome: Too many don’t have the attitude of getting in motion to get something done or become something they want to be. For them? Success is a mystery and an illusion.

Presto! They ask a magician to make it magically appear.

We’re working on projects around the house that need to get done, and, if truth be told, I feel inadequate to do it by myself. Presto! My brother appears! His focus and energy is different than mine. I enjoy doing but do not possess the skills nor patience to learn how to do all he takes for granted. My focus is different and I excel in different areas.

The bottom line? If you want something done, you have to get in the game and make it happen.

Some are starters, but they never finish. (Hmmm… I’m talking about myself on several fronts.) Some want others to start, but let them have the heavy lifting middle part. Then, like in many houses I’ve lived in, there are finishers who come in and put the final touches to make something liveable.

Be A Finisher

Any inventor worth their salt understands this. You can have an idea of completing a task, but to bring it to market you must be a finisher!

Jesus was a finisher.

A centurion came to Jesus in Capernaum and shared a problem. A servant was sick and needed the Master Physician. Jesus said, “I will come and heal him.” What we know about Jesus, this was not a challenge. If he comes, the work will get done. The centurion had a different idea. “Just say the word.” His personal experience said that he could get what he asked for because he understood how to command and lead. Jesus…just say the word and my servant will be healed.

No Greater Faith is found in all of Israel, says Jesus.

Then Jesus said to the centurion,
“Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.”
And his servant was healed that same hour.
Matthew 8:13 NKJV

Faith in the Finisher.

What else can we say? Nothing Jesus started was left undone. Even when he left others in charge. He knew they would be survivors and finishers. Even those that came after Jesus ascended.

That was Paul’s message.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.
2 Timothy 4:7-8 NKJV

Paul was a finisher, and there’s no doubt that anyone, nor anything, would stop him from completing his mission successfully. However, notice his ultimate message. It’s not just about me, but to all who look for with longing the day of His appearance. Do you want to find success? Then get up and do what it takes to be successful.

Could it be that Success is not found overnight, nor do we instantaneously pick it up? If I’ve learned anything, and I heard it in a teaching session this weekend and this is my takeaway…

Whatever you achieve comes in the process of small steps and efforts
until you reach the goal you were aiming for.
