Looking For SunLooking For Sun

We live in a wet and gloomy place. Some of the time. Mainly in the late fall and throughout the winter and early spring. You must not be turned off by winter rain, snow, wind, flood, or other weather events that keep even the mail from being delivered. I just looked it up, and we get an average of 48 inches of precipitation, and at least 6 inches of snow. Annually.

That means the bulk of our rain comes in about 4-5 months!

We are close to the Pacific ocean and the Olympic mountains that generate our weird weather. Phrases like “river of rain” or “pineapple express” is typical.

So. When I tell you I’m looking for Sunshine, it means I’m waiting for the rain to quit!

Maybe I’ve reached that point!

Some will bail and run to sun-soaked places. I know someone who flies out today for a drenchingly warm and sunny spot to take a cruise. In my mind, I’m envisioning a “petri dish” of pandemic proportion.

On second thought, let’s keep the rain for a while!

We have eight German Shepherd puppies that we’ve brought indoors in this current season because the garage was too cold. They are seven days old today. That means their momma is here. Chewy is being downright pleasant, but it also means we have to take her outside. In the snowy, rainy, cool, and cold. We are then drying off (Chewy, also) before making it far past the rug at the front door.

I thought I spotted the sun filtering through the clouds yesterday, but I could be wrong. Honestly, I know what it looks like! What else could that cloudy circle in the sky be?

Anyway, the National Weather System has warned us repeatedly this week to watch for Coastal and River flooding, snow, rain, and wind. With the ground saturated from the snowfall last week, this week, and last night, trees and power poles are doing their best to stay upright.

In my mind, I hear my dad mention his testimony with a closing remark, “Y’all pray for me.”

“Y’all pray for us!”
