Blessings

As a child I learned to say my prayers. When I became a man, I put away childish things. Wait! Is it wrong to “say” a prayer? Or is it better to pray with a specific need in mind?

Then I wonder about those who don’t believe in a higher power (God!) and how do they handle their needs? Sometimes prayer is more for me to put into words the situation that I feel requires intervention.

Last week, a friend called and left a voice mail that included kind words and a prayer focused on our needs. Aging body. Rest. Safe travels.

Don’t you know I’m saving that voice mail! Why? It’s good to remind yourself someone knows and cares!

Maybe this is where we’ve missed the power of prayer!

Prayer! Let the words wash over your situation. Nothing is hopeless when you declare your need.

“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” (James 5:16, KJV)

But notice something. Confession isn’t what we often think it is. The original word simply means “acknowledge, or agree fully.” When we state our need, then we know how to pray!

While traveling today I’m going to be in prayer for you. Will you acknowledge your situation, let me know. I will pray.

Side note: My back has not given me problems since my friends prayer! Our R&R is beginning to work!
