Mom and Dad, Wedding Day, 03/27/1954
Mom and Dad, Wedding Day, 03/27/1954

Too easily, too late, we think fond memories about people, places, and things. It’s that moment when we look backward and realize how good those times were. Then, suddenly, we feel guilty because we did not cherish those moments with the value back then. They mean more today than the moment we were living them.

Today is mom and dad’s 66 anniversary. 3/27/1954.
Dad would be 90 in just 8 days. April 4th.
Mom hits 20 years older than my next birthday age of 66 at the end of April. (30th!)

Mom and Dad's Anniversary
Mom and Dad – 3/27/1954

I remember when my grandparents passed on, and though it affected me, it is still a tender subject thinking about my dad being gone. Of 9 kids, only the youngest is still living. Henry. On my dad’s side, that’s nearly one whole generation of relatives gone. On my mom’s, all her siblings are still alive and functioning!

This morning, mom received a message from my sister on her phone. How? Not sure. Teresa has been gone since 9/23/2019, just over 6 months ago. What would my sister say to my mom and dad from this memory or supernatural phone message?

Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
(Philippians 4:4-7 KJV)

Salient and timely words. I like the focus…

The Lord is at hand… the peace of God…

Cherish Now, Rejoined Then

So, why shouldn’t we simply rejoice?!!? The separation by death is for just a little while. There will be a grand reunion in heaven someday.

There will be a happy meeting in Heaven, I know
When we see the many loved ones we’ve known here below
Gathered on that blessed hilltop with hearts all aglow
That will be a glad reunion day.

Refrain
A glad day, a wonderful day,
A glad day, a glorious day
There with all the holy angels and loved ones to stay
That will be a glad reunion day.

When we live a million years in that wonderful place
Basking in the love of Jesus, beholding His face
It will seem but just a moment of praising His grace
That will be a glad reunion day.
