My Own Path
My Own Path

When all else fails, try, try, try again. Right? We often want to keep trying until we think we are sure to make it through. Surely, the next time is a charm. Failures. Rejection. Lack of ability. They are barriers we strive to overcome.

However. Consider whether it’s worth your time or effort to do it again. Maybe, just maybe you are trying to do something your should not be doing, reaching for something you shouldn’t be focusing on, or even looking for acceptance that you probably don’t really want or need.

Think it through. Talk it through.

One of the biggest problems we face is that we never take the time to consider the next step. Think it through. Find someone to talk it through.

Sometimes we aim for the sky, when we should be contented walking on solid ground, or treading down paths where the sky just doesn’t fit in.

Other times we want to be accepted for what others should think about us, when reality is they don’t care, so why should you?!!? It doesn’t mean you reject others. You are who you are. They are who they are. Perhaps your worlds are not meant to be connected!

What’s the fix?

Do you circle the wagons? Set a guard around your circle of influence and prepare to protect at all cost? Or, take a new path that might not include them, or it.

My personality is to simply walk my own path and forget about the achievement that makes me “acceptable”! I quit looking at the achievement I once thought was necessary to show I’ve arrived. My path is my own. I’m okay with that.

It never means I’m rude. My personality doesn’t allow for me to treat you that way. However, I’m sure my focus will ensure we never cross paths except where it’s necessary.

Path Finder

In the Leather Stocking tales of James Fenimore Cooper, one of the most intriguing characters was nicknamed, “Path Finder”. I found it identified me so well. I can go off on my own, do what I want, leave at the drop of a hat, and have great experiences that others will never have. I can even do this without leaving the territory!

There’s something about how my mind work I find intriguing to see what others may never notice! It may be difficult to share the words of my discovery, but I do try every day in my blog.

It’s not that I have new discoveries to make, but I can be history in a heartbeat! In my wandering spirit, I find that direction over there better suits who I have chosen to be. It’s not outside the boundaries or decency of morality, rather, it’s the place that is good to be by myself and on my own.

Back in the day when CB Radio’s were popular, you remember…back before there was smart technology, GPS, and apps that warned us of danger. Back then. My CB radio, and my AM radio dial, gave me warning about what was ahead. Back then. You had to have a “handle” or a nickname you were called instead of using your true name. I was then (back in the 70’s) and I feel it today (nearly 2020), you can call me Path Finder.

Here’s My Thought Today

You may feel rejected and alone in this great big ol’ world, but unless you reject everyone and everything you are never truly alone.

You may never rise to that position or goal you once thought important, but that’s okay. Find and identify your new path. And be happy for the choice!

Equally, you may never rub shoulders with those you think you should. That’s okay! They probably don’t want you around unless you’re the latest whiz-bang personality or have a great story to tell. Or, unless you have something to support them in their focus forward! Most of those folks are very protective of their circle, just like you should be.

Thinking Out Loud

I’m okay thinking this way, and you and I can have this kind of conversation, but the focus of my heart is upon what I’m called to do, and called to be. I’ve repositioned my personal goals and desires to match this heart beat. Equally, I’ve trained my hands and my feet to be the focus of what I can do, and where I can go, so that I’m in focus with my heart.

Some throw off conventions of normality and become weird when they start down this path. I reject that. It’s not me. I’m normal and sane. Only, my mind works differently so I see things in a different light. Glamour. Glitz. Rasa dazzle. Whiz bangers. Outlandish. Weird… Simply weird!

Equally, it’s not a mental disease or defect I’m worried about. Or being rejected by the “in-crowd”. What I’m focused on is making a difference in each person’s life. One at a time. Shoulder to shoulder. Side by side. Talking it through. Making a difference.

Here’s the rub.

I’m nearing my middle 60’s when “full retirement” is supposed to be the acceptable path. No one knows this, but here’s a secret. There is no such thing as retirement. It’s only a new path that allows you to adapt to an older life. The bones and muscles ache more, the eyes require adaptive devices to work, and, Lord Help Me, those sounds that are fading are probably the best thing about it all. I don’t have to listen to you, or it!

Whoops! The cat’s out of the bag! I’m looking forward to this next phase and hope everything works out for me to do it my own way!

What’s your path? What’s next? Are you ready?
