“Give it your all! Give it everything you’ve got! Hold nothing back! When the going gets tough, the tough get going! No pain! No Gain!”
For some, these sentiments encourage them to give that extra calorie burn to show they have what it takes to persevere till the end. It’s the motivation they need to push through the obstacles! The goal. The prize. The win!
For others, well, they shake their head, throw in the towel, and give up even trying to move forward.
Don’t call one a winner and the other a loser; instead, realize everyone is at a different place in life, and what works for the goose may not work for the gander. At least, not right now!
What do these words do for you?
For me, it all depends on what we’re aiming for! Is it in tune with my goal, or is it your goal for me? If it’s something I want or think is necessary, then “I’m all in!” But if it’s your goal for me and I’ve not bought into it, or you, then I’m sure I’ll sit under a shade tree with a cup of good coffee, watch the evening as it retires, and read a book of my choosing!
I think this morning it all depends on what I want or need out of life. Have you sold me? Do I need your motivation? Are you the motivator because you’ve joined the future with me? Or, are you simply a cheerleader someone has paid for you to spray the motivation juice into my life?
In reality, I need to know my goals! What will it take to achieve them, and when am I expecting them to be completed? What’s the timing, cost, effort? Maybe I need to slip into high gear and go for it! Or, coast to the side of the road looking for a peaceful stop for the day…
When someone says, “I want what’s best for you!” ask yourself, what does that look like? Is it what I want? If I want to be a bum, will you be happy with my choice? Is that what Bonnie and Clyde thought about when they went on their crime spree? “This is my personal best, and I will give it my all!” Who spoke into their life? For a moment, I think about their families and the disappointments I’m sure they had as the reporters clamored for the inside scoop.
At some point, you must know your goal and what it will take out of you to achieve your best and reach for the prize!
Some years back, a boss was “coaching” me to be more like him… I stepped back from the moment, thought about everything I knew about him, and decided. Nope. Not for me. I told him, “I want to be the best me that me knows how.” When I make up my mind, then I push myself harder than you will ever be able to. I won’t need your coaching, mentoring, cheerleading, or pushing.
I want to be the best me that I know how. I may need your help and will let you know if I do. But until then, pray for me! I need all the prayers I can get! Share on XHere’s my bottom line. When you figure out what you want to do and where you want to go, and you know you need some help, find that coach, mentor, boss, cheerleader, or drill sergeant to help get you to your destination.
Do not accept anything less than the best. Why? You’re worth it!
