It’s been a nice two weeks of vacation. R&R. Rest. And mostly relaxing. It’s been difficult to turn off my brain. I have a long list of things that need to be addressed, and skipping out of a busy life is difficult do.

But do it we did, and as we all know, everything must come to an end.

So. We head home.

My laundry list is waiting on my return  Many more tasks and deadlines have been added in the interim, and, who knows, some may have actually disappeared. I’m not sure how to whittle the list down, except to be there (home) and work, and, of course, more work. For some reason I hear the song in my brain from the Snow White cartoon…

Hi Ho… Hi Ho… It’s off to work we go. [Source]

Regardless, late Sunday will find us home. Monday morning will find me in full swing of spending the time to do what needs to be done – tasks, phone calls, meetings…getting back into the swing. Along with my normal duties, I also have to work on wrapping up the tasks that prepare the home for the winter. I know the gutters need to be cleaned out, some bushes and tree need a final triming, and the yard will need one last mowing. Don’t forget the animals… Dog and Chickens need some attention!

This makes me think about my long range goal of being at home, finally. Not the physical place of today, but that eternal place we call heaven. From every moment of life until we reach the ending, we are seldom called to live a “Life of Riley” – you know, ease, sitting in the hammock, drinking iced tea and watching the world spin by. Rather, we are called to work, put food on the table, roof over the head, cash in the bank, retiring dollars put to work for those days we are not able to work…

It’s not always about the final destination, but about making the journey profitable and life changing for yourself, and others.

All of this, you know, is life. It’s what has been done for thousands of years, and will continue to happen until every person reaches the ending of life. Then we all pray that we hear those famous words….

Well Done….
