What do the wheels on the bus do?
They go round and round…
All through the town.
Right? But at least they’re going somewhere.
But this morning I was thinking about the ease
On how we get stuck in our minds with the same old thought
Nothing ever changes, nothing ever will
Unless we take control and enforce a new direction.
Commerce does this often.
Why buy a new car unless it has something new that you want?
My 22-year-old truck is starting to show its age. Finally.
It may not shine like all the new trucks in the world,
And on one level, I’m happy to keep driving it.
Nearly 400k miles, and the engine can last till 1 million!
I digress. Really? Yes.
Too often my mind stays with the same ol’ same ol’…
It’s easier to deal with than facing something new.
That old truck has long been paid for.
A new one costs are easily doubled and then some.
I’m after saving money until the expense of it no longer makes sense.
And then, I’ll think about something newer.
Even God describes His plan for a new direction.
The earth is full of sin. Wipe it out. Start over.
Noah? Come here. We gotta talk.
And after Noah? It’s not the only time God thinks new.
“Do not remember the former things,
Nor consider the things of old.
Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert…”
(Isaiah 43:18-19 NKJV)
Old Covenant. New Covenant.
Old Testament. New Testament.
This morning, I identified at least a dozen subjects
Familiar veins of thought I always share.
They bring me happiness, and they’re easy to share.
But a new thought crept in, helping me to see
There’s so much more to write about
Than the same ol’ thing I’ve always said.
It’s like having a conversation. Again.
The same ol’ stories and the same ol’ examples.
Nothing new comes from rehashing the old.
When a bat breaks when it connects with a ball
It’s time to get a new bat.
That same ol’ bat won’t do!
That tired old phrase needs to be updated!
Those stories need to be refreshed.
Though there’s comfort in the old
And I can do this for a long time
I’m sensing that readers want, or need,
Something new to pay attention to.
That’s why Reels and Stories are so popular.
Quick bites of data, swipe, time for the next.
It’s time to change the blog post
Into something it’s never been.
Get out of the rut!
Challenge for a new direction.
If the Lord can do it, then so can I…
Stay tuned… A new focus is coming.
