Sign in the wilderness with words lsot found and searching
Always Search

I have an innate sense of direction.
Spatial Orientation is how I think about.
I seldom get physically lost.
But that may be because I haven’t been everywhere yet.

Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, is my nemesis.
I know where I want to go.
All the times I’ve been there,
Signs tell you to go a different direction
And I get turned around as my orienting skills fail.

This morning,
I’m considering my mind.
Lost and Found.
Seldom one,
Always the other.

But as I age,
My forget’er is getting better
And that concerns me a bit
If the day comes, I won’t know which I am.

You know the phrase,
“The hurried’er I go, the behind’er I get.”
I may someday be the poster child for these words
“The forget’er is the second to go. I don’t remember the first.”

I recently removed something from my carry-all.
That’s the backpack I carry my “portable office” in.
I told myself to remember where I put it.
But I must not be a good minder of what I said.
I can’t find it.

I’ve revisited everywhere.
I even asked for help.
But wherever it was I put it.
It’s not there. At least, I don’t see it.

I read a story long ago
How behind every second of our lives, there is a crew
They move things into position
So the scene unfolds as Goldlocks, “Just So…”

But there is a director
Whose job is to ensure
That everything is in its place
“Just right…”
I’ve called this person:
“The Continutity Director.”

How many times have you looked for:
Glasses, Wallet, Keys…
You get the drift.
It’s the Continuity Director’s job.
To ensure they are where I left them.

Every story needs one.
Someone with an eye for detail.
To ensure everything is just “so…”
I think mine is on Spring Break.

If you see him,
Tell him to come home
I don’t want to be permanently lost
And never again to be found.

Thank you for reading.
Please share with others.
It helps me get my book written!
