All those springs
Casually... It's Spring

I know you don’t know my dogs… Our dogs.
But we have four German Shepherds that started as a Pandemic $$ investment.
Our Golden Retriever had passed.
Bailey was a dozen years old and slowing down.
Since then, our English Shepherd, Nukka, has passed. Fourteen years old.

We love big dogs.

While adjusting some yard needs this morning,
Bear, our soon-to-be 4-year-old GS,
Came running around the house.
My bride thinks of him as Scooby Doo.
He’s tall. Gangly and differently colored than the traditional GS,
I think he knows he belongs to me! Puppy #8.

Anyway, he came running around the side of the house,
Wanting to leap on me and say, “Let’s Play!”
I tell him, “No, Brenda wants to take you for a walk.”
He’s not sold. Although I just fed him an hour ago, he’s excited to see me.
I need to move the tractor, but he does a fly-by leap and licks me on my cheek!
What a character. We should have named him Scooby-Doo!

While checking the weather, I noticed we were having our first 12 hours of daylight. Hmm. That rings a bell. It must be the first day of Spring. It’s wet, with the promise of more rain. The wind is blowing as it sweeps in from the Pacific Ocean. You can’t see the sun. It’s way too cloudy. The future forecast is not any different than it was last week.

It’s casually Spring.

This is my 71st Spring.
I don’t remember much about the first few.
This date did not mean much early in life.
It’s already been near 90 degrees in Texas, and I call that Summer.
It’s still below freezing in Alaska, and snow is forecasted and is stored in the shadows of trees and mountains. I call that Winter.

But here, I can tell it’s getting milder.
The day and night are equally in attendance.
There’s hope for the 60s, but it can still drop to the 20s.
Like Goldilocks, hmmmm, just right!

Don’t get ahead of the time.
All seasons come and go.
But I promise to enjoy each
As long as the stay “Just Right.”

Thank you for reading.

It helps me get my book written!
