I would hope I’m a good listener.
With just enough passion and care to pay attention.
When life shares an object lesson,
I want to learn and be ready to share.
Not sharing, as in spilling the beans
But from the experience, sharing a lesson
Because we’re nothing if we do not help one another
Improve their lot in life as they experience it.
But when it’s just you against life,
How do you handle the moment?
I remember walking in the woods.
Sneak to a favorite spot with my gun or bow.
Normally, while it’s dark
And woods can be a scary place.
Whether rabbits. Squirrel. Boar. Or even a deer.
You must learn to be stealthy while walking through life.
A crunch of a leaf,
Snapping of a twig.
The brush against some bark
Or a thorn making you feel stung. Ouch!
Anything can ruin the moment.
So you try to be quiet and learn from the experience.
There was a time I was hunting a moose
My next step along side the print of a bear.
It was just filling with water. Fresh! Alert, am I.
I think I’ll go the other way.
He can have the moose.
Stealthy lesson in Alaska.
I wasn’t there for Mr. Bear.
Another time, I was driving late at night.
Tired. Sleepy. I learned this valuable lesson.
You cannot let just one eye sleep!
Sleep overtakes awareness.
I learned that when I awoke on the other side of a curve in the road!
Pull over when you’re tired!
Lessons are learned like that.
Tell the truth. Don’t tell a lie.
Be the faithful friend, not a sly ol’ fox.
Keep your finances in order. One penny at a time.
Don’t cheat! Or you’ll be called a thief.
Do what you said you’d do. Nothing less. But perhaps a lot more.
Keep Your Promises…
…Say your prayers…
… …Read God’s Word.
… … …There’s a lot of value there.
