We sang this song recently at church, and both me and my wife felt especially touched by the Spirit of the lyrics and the sincerity of the moment. Why? When you are dealing with needs and it seems there’s nothing left to do but give in to the moment, what better way of handling the issue than to “Speak Jesus.”
Some will speak the name in a commanding tone, and there are times that’s needed. Others may speak the name from a place of hurt or fear, and that’s exactly how you should call on that name. Still, and maybe this is what I’m feeling today, I want to speak His name with Love.
And above all things have fervent love for one another,
for “Love will cover a multitutde of sins.”

Imagine Peter, as he sunk into the stormy waters crying out to Jesus.
Imagine the woman with the issue of blood pressing through the crowds and touching the hem of His garment.
Imagine the thief on the cross, “Remember me.”
Imagine Mary, the mother of Jesus, “Jesus….”
Imagine Thomas after the resurrection, “My Lord and my God….”
Now, imagine your need. Your moment. How will you call on His name?
From what I find on the internet, there is an order to the song that can change with the person singing it. That’s the modern way, I suppose. So, I’ve reordered my presentation to have the verses first and the chorus last, and the various bridges collected together.
