The Last Fall Leaves of Autum are the leftovers
Leftovers

Have you ever found that leftovers are more satisfying than when they were originally served? Science may try to answer the question, but my thoughts differ.

If the food was served and you liked it, leftovers keep the memory alive!

Yes… Leftovers keep the memory alive!

On the counter or in the fridge,
Warmed up, or at the current temperature,
Ham, Cornbread Dressing, Texas Rolls,
Okay. Maybe a little heat is required.

But as I partake, I remember yesterday
Family, fun, thankfulness
Wishing for a special someone to join the table,
Leftovers keep yesterday’s blessing alive.

Blessings alive? Let them linger.
It means I still have hope.
Family gatherings will be repeated.

But all day long, I’ll keep wishing…
Remind me, Lord, of my current blessings.
Someday, and perhaps not too far away,
Another place setting… We can only pray.

Throughout my yard, most leaves are missing.
Wind and season, they’ve blown and gone.
There are still a few leftovers, but they help me remember,
A fuller time of growth and love. I feel the season.
In the Spring, those leaves finally say goodbye,
As the new ones come in, don’t forget the leftovers.

Happy Leftovers from Thanksgiving!
