Yesterday, life was such an easy game to play…
And if you know the song, you probably know the writers
John Lennon, Paul McCartney, yes, the Beatles.
But have you read the lyrics, or must you sing them as song?
Maybe it’s different for you,
But I’m often surprised in later years
What the lyrics actually say.
I’m not a good listener, I confess,
I just filled in the words I thought were meant.
There are very few artist I can understand completely,
So a sing-a-along that includes the lyrics,
Helps me to be lyrical along your melody and notes.
Maybe that’s why I appreciate music videos so much.
But that’s also why I love to read the Bible
Especially the Wisdom Books
Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Solomon…
And less you think differently, also the Book of Job.
Put them in lyrical format,
Imagine a shepherd lyre strumming a melody,
Put the words into the melody,
And simply say or sing the words.
A Psalm of David.
The LORD is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever.
Psalms 23:1-6 NKJV
